Any die hard bagel lover that lives in London, knows that there is only one place to get your “bagel-on”, and that’s Beigel Bake on Brick Lane.
For me, it is not only the best bagel shop in London but also memory of my Sundays growing up. Every Sunday without fail, I would go with my dad to his wholesalers on Brick Lane. While dad was doing his buying, it would be my job to take the bagel order from everyone in the shop and do the bagel run.
For those who haven’t yet discovered the Beigel Bake – congratulations! – You are one step closer to eating the finest bagels in London. Now, here are some tips before your first visit to bagel heaven:
1. Do not confuse Beigel Bake (white sign) with the bagel shop next door, Beigel Shop (yellow sign). It is NOT the original and the bagels are no where near as good.
2. Order two, salt beef and smoked salmon & cream cheese. If you don’t think you can handle two, then make sure you order the salt beef.
3. Get a 50p tea! I would say one of the cheapest in London but my cousin sells a cuppa for 20p in his cafe in Borough, http://www.terryscafe.co.uk/.
These bagels are infamous, so if you are still yet to discover them – get down to Brick Lane sharpish.
